Preparation:
Ensure all tools, including separator pliers, are sterilized.
Select the appropriate size of Koden Ortho Elastic Separators for the patient.
Patient Positioning:
Seat the patient comfortably in the dental chair with good lighting.
Inserting the Separator:
Using Separator Pliers: Stretch the elastic separator with the separator pliers. Carefully insert the stretched separator between the teeth where space needs to be created. Position the separator near the gum line, ensuring it is snugly in place.
Using Dental Floss: Stretch the separator with dental floss, threading the floss through the center of the separator. Slide the floss between the teeth, gently moving it back and forth to position the separator. Remove the floss while leaving the separator in place.
Checking Placement:
Ensure the separator is positioned correctly, sitting securely between the teeth.
Verify that the separator is not causing excessive discomfort to the patient.
Patient Instructions:
Advise the patient to avoid eating sticky or hard foods that could dislodge the separators.
Instruct the patient to maintain good oral hygiene, being careful around the separators when brushing and flossing.
Monitoring:
Schedule a follow-up appointment within a few days to a week to check the separators and the space created.
Ensure the separators remain in place and adjust if necessary.
Removing the Separator:
Use separator pliers or a dental explorer to carefully remove the separator before placing orthodontic bands.
Gently slide the separator out from between the teeth, ensuring not to cause discomfort to the patient.
Band Placement:
Proceed with the placement of orthodontic bands once the desired space has been created
