High-intensity quartz Fibre posts with 4 drills – special drill are used to make an exact match with the fiber resin post.
INDICATIONS
More and more endodontically treated teeth are being restored using fiber & reinforced composite posts (fiber posts), primarily because they are safer to use.
These posts are more easily removed, aesthetic, conserve tooth structure, and provide improved fracture resistance to these compromised teeth.
ADVANTAGES
Resilient fibre material
Radio-opaque
Long posts allowing deep bond.
More dimension options.
High-intensity Glass fiber post has a special drill to make an exact match with the fiber resin post
High-Intensity quartz Fiber resin post.
Special drill to make an exact match with fiber resin post.
Fiber posts have esthetic advantages.
Fiber posts cannot corrode like base metals
The stiffness (Elastic Modulus) of fiber posts is like the tooth structure, they function with the tooth instead of against it, in helping to prevent fractures and other problems.
More fatigue resistance.
Fracture resistant.
It is bondable within the root canal for root reinforcement.
It has adequate light transmission to eliminate shadowing of the post within the tooth to maximize
Esthetics of the final restoration.
Dimensions of the Posts
Yellow- 1.20mm (diameter), 18 mm Length
Red – 1.40 mm (diameter) , 18mm Length
Blue – 1.60mm (diameter), 18mm Length
Black – 1.80mm (diameter), 18mm Length
How does one select what type of fiber-reinforced esthetic post to use? It should be translucent, to transmit light similar to that of tooth structure. The post and restorative material should minimize esthetic failure by maximizing light transmission through an all-ceramic crown, porcelain veneer, or composite resin. Even when a porcelain metal crown is used, root shadowing of metal posts can cause a “graying out” phenomenon. When a composite resin is being used either as a definitive restoration or as a foundation core for a crown, the post should bond to the composite resin, thereby creating a unified structure. Because the post is to be bonded to the dentin within the root canal, post length need only be the same as the height of the tooth crown or at least one half the length of the root canal. The post should also be chemically integrated into the color and translucency of the composite resin surrounding it.
STEP – 1
Fill the canal with Sealer and the masterpoints are inserted.
Dip accessory points into the Accelerator.
Passively harpoon the coated accessory points alongside the masterpoints.
After 5 minutes, prepare the post space.
STEP – 2
Prepare the post space using drills
Trial fit the Fiber posts and determine the desired length.
After etching and rinsing the canal and super-structure, place the adhesive on the moist tooth.
Place the dual purpose resin cement and core build-up material.
Final preparations. Note that the posts has to be placed over the centric cusps.
Yes, a contra-angle handpiece is required for using the post drills.
